"Max Miller is a wonderful person who did a great job at the White House and will be a fantastic Congressman", Trump said in a statement released by Save America, the former President's political action committee.
Donald Trump's hold on the Republican Party was on full display at an annual gathering of prominent US conservatives on Friday as ally Senator Ted Cruz said the former president "ain't going anywhere" despite violent scenes in Washington last month.
"Not really a plan that I would go with, but it's what they've done", he said.
Also on that panel will be Jenny Beth Martin, founder of Tea Party Patriots, a group that was listed as partner organizers for the "Stop the Steal" rally outside the U.S. Capitol on January 6 that led to the storming.
Donald Trump is set to appear at CPAC over the weekend.
In a video that began circulating on Friday morning, two people are seen wheeling out the statue while many supporters clap, take pictures, and shout cheers like, "That is so cool" and "Awesome", which are definitely adjectives often used when describing larger-than-life gold statues of people who have been impeached twice. It was unclear why the statue, showing a cartoonish version of Trump with an oversize head, was there.
The statue drew instant derision online, with commentators comparing it to the golden calf that enraged the prophet Moses in the Old Testament.
"Idol worship isn't conservative".
The remarks were a continuation of the "Big Lie" that Trump won the election that resulted the January 6 insurrection and Trump's second impeachment. They overwhelmingly voted for the America First agenda.
"We can not - we will not - go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear", said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who outlined a new Trumpian GOP agenda focused on restrictive immigration policies, opposition to China and limiting military engagement.

Intelligence report on Jamal Khashoggi's murder released
Former president Donald Trump paid little attention to Riyadh's human-rights record, including its military intervention in Yemen. He also hopes to address other challenges, such as fighting Islamist extremism and advancing Arab-Israeli ties.
$15 Minimum Wage Won't Be in Final Stimulus Bill
Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) suggesting that a lower, $11 minimum wage would be more appropriate for West Virginia. Democrats are aiming to get the legislation to Biden's desk by mid-March.
He said "President Trump has flaws" but that he had made the party more approachable for working-class Americans. The ex-president returns from political hiatus on Sunday seeking to regain control of a Republican Party that is out of power and pondering whether the flawed billionaire can win again in 2024.
Starting on Friday, a sea of ardent Trump loyalists will participate in the conference's proceedings, flaked with bolsters of their own presence in the party, in hopes to be accepted by the former president's following.
"We're not the past, we're the future".
After losing the Senate and White House, and failing to retake the House of Representatives, a USA political party would normally lick its wounds, jettison its failed leader and chart a new path forward to claw back relevance.
"The divide right now is between the "Beltway elites" and the conservative grassroots around the country", said a Trump adviser who helped prepare the speech.
Trump will also offer red-meat rhetoric critical of his successor, Democrat President Joe Biden.
But none of those who supported impeaching Mr Trump have been invited.
Even Mike Pence, who has quietly cut ties with Trump since the attack on the U.S. Capitol, declined to speak at the event.
He added he did not have a commitment from President Trump to not challenge sitting members of Congress in their primary elections.
CPAC is an event organized by the American Conservative Union, whose chairman, Matt Schlapp, is close to Trump. It is a prime venue for speakers who want to gauge interest in whether they should run for president based on the enthusiasm they generate.
