Speakers, including many potential 2024 hopefuls, have argued the party must embrace the former president and his followers, even after the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Fifty-five percent of CPAC attendees said they want Trump as the Republican nominee in 2024.

Less than six weeks after leaving office, Mr Trump delivered the closing speech of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida.

In his first public speech since leaving office in January, former United States president Donald Trump indicated he might launch a third presidential bid in 2024, called for Republican Party unity, and slammed the Joe Biden administration, saying it was "anti-jobs" and "anti-science".

China believes it could work with the United States on things like climate change and the Coronavirus crisis if US President Joe Biden scraps trade tariffs set by his predecessor Donald Trump.

"We can not have leaders who show more passion for condemning their fellow Americans than they have ever shown for standing up to Democrats, the media and the radicals who want to turn America into a socialist country", Trump said.

Donald trump said he had no plans to form a new party.

"I didn't like them at all, but once we got it done, I said 'I now love you very much", he said.

"As conservatives and Republicans, never forget that we did it, never let them take the credit, they don't deserve the credit, they are following our plan, this is something they call an absolute miracle", said Mr Trump.

Mitt Romney has said that Trump will win the party's primary if he decides to run for president again.

Pompeo assailed President Joe Biden and recalled what he said were the foreign policy successes of the Trump administration.

'McConnell has no credibility on China because of his family's substantial Chinese business holdings, ' said Trump.

Yet he has not proved able to dissuade Trump from mounting a revenge campaign against those Republicans who voted to impeach him last month - a fact made vividly clear Friday when the former president endorsed a challenger against Rep. Anthony Gonzalez of OH, one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump over the Capitol attack.

On February 16 Trump launched an extraordinary attack on Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, whose wife, Elaine Chao, Trump's transport secretary, was born in Taiwan.

The conference included at least seven panels credulously discussing Trump's claims of a stolen 2020 election, despite dozens of court rulings finding otherwise.

But Trump, even if widely rejected by Democrats and a majority of independents, remains particularly popular among many Republican voters. "This election was rigged", Trump said. Biden also repealed an order threatening the financing of cities that Trump's administration felt did not support local police amid the anti-racism protests last summer.

Trump's plan is to continue sucking oxygen into Republican territory and preventing the emergence of candidates for the 2024 election - the lineage of wannabes is long.

But not everyone supported Mr Trump. "I hope that he does because the things that we did in my judgment made America safer and more prosperous America first is right".

Hats, shirts and other pro-Trump paraphernalia were on display at the conference, where attendees took photos alongside a gold statue of the former president.
