National panel advises provinces not to use AstraZeneca vaccine on seniors

The study suggests that a single dose of either of the two vaccines now approved for use in the U.K.is more than 80 percent effective at preventing hospitalization, around three to four weeks after the jab.

As of Saturday, 4.55 million people had received at least one shot of an AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.

An AstraZeneca spokesman in Seoul said the company had no comment at present.

Oxford-AstraZeneca reported about 62 per cent effectiveness at preventing COVID-19, while Pifzer-BioNTech and Moderna have said the efficacy of their vaccines is about 95 per cent.

The country authorised the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines. "I see this huge, huge benefit of vaccinating young people, particularly people with high contact, essential workers, sooner".
