  • Authorities said the suspect targeted an ambulance facility and EMS agencies in Connecticut on Saturday

A 37-year-old CT man allegedly used a Molotov cocktail to start a fire at an ambulance facility and was also connected to other arson fires targeting Emergency Medical Services agencies in the state on Saturday, the Old Saybrook Fire Department said in a Facebook post. He is being charged with second-degree arson and second-degree burglary, authorities said.

He's waiting for extradition to CT on a warrant filed by Middletown related to the Old Saybrook incident, Makuc said.

Old Saybrook Police Chief Michael Spera says in statement: "The individual has targeted those who we count on to save lives".

It was not immediately clear if White had retained an attorney. Around 5:15 p.m. a similar firebombing occurred at the Hunter's Ambulance facility in Meriden.

Sgt. Paul Makuc, with the CT State Police explosion investigation unit said White is the only known suspect. That was following a disciplinary hearing that resulted in White being placed on administrative leave.

Spera told ABC News that White works as an emergency medical technician.

He was taken into custody about 8 p.m. during a traffic stop in the Milton area, they said.

He is also accused of setting fire to an ambulance inside a fire department in Roxbury, then setting fire to a nearby home, according to reports.

Meriden police say White used a Molotov cocktail to set a fire at Hunters Ambulance in Old Saybrook and tossed a "lit object", also a Molotov cocktail, at the ambulance holding bays in Meriden.

Several hours later, White allegedly "ignited a makeshift Molotov cocktail" in a room at the Hunters Ambulance base in Old Saybrook, Meriden police said.
