Saskatchewan RCMP officer arrested in death of man in wooded area

RCMP say that on May 8 at about 11:50 p.m. CST, they were informed about a possible abduction after a friend had received a concerning message from a woman on Facebook.
Cpl. Bernie Herman, a 32-year member of the RCMP, was serving with the Prince Albert RCMP Traffic Services Unit at the time of his arrest.
Police in Prince Albert, Sask. have charged an RCMP officer with first-degree murder in the death of a 26-year-old man on Tuesday evening. He also said Braden grew up in La Loche but was more recently living in Prince Albert and went to school at Carlton Comprehensive and École St. Mary.
Investigators said the alleged killing took place while the officer was off duty, but few details have been released.

Another source cited by the RIA Novosti agency said they had heard an explosion and could see smoke rising from the building. A source told the Interfax news agency that a second shooter had barred himself in on the fourth floor of the building.
His death is being investigated as a homicide and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
