One criteria involves getting 65 per cent of adults partially immunized with one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and the province has already blown past that target.

British Columbia's deputy provincial health officer is encouraging residents to register for a second dose of vaccine as the province heads toward a return to normal life with declining COVID-19 cases and rising vaccination rates.

The latest Department of Health dashboard also reveals that there have been no further deaths in the last 24 hours.

In a joint written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said that broken down by health region, 30 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 78 are in the Fraser Health region, 10 are in the Island Health region, 42 are in the Interior Health region and five are in the Northern Health region. There is one case of a person who resides outside of Canada.

Island Health identified the locations of 29 active cases Tuesday, including 17 in the South Island, eight in the Central Island and four in the North Island.

Dr. Réka Gustafson says B.C. recorded 481 cases of COVID-19 and 12 deaths over three days while 199 people are in hospital.

The seven-day rolling average in BC is down to 177 new cases per day - the lowest it's been since October 20th.

Our immediate goal is to get as many people as possible fully vaccinated with their COVID-19 vaccine as soon as we can.

By keeping our positive momentum going, we can all start to shift our focus to the many things we have to gain through immunization.

"We are on a good path to get back to work, to university, to seeing friends and travelling, resuming all of those connections that are so important to all of us".
