Cette semaine Joe Biden a choisi l'Europe pour entamer son premier déplacement à l'étranger en tant que président des États-Unis. Une visite au programme assez rempli: ce jeudi 10 juin, il arrive en Grande-Bretagne pour une rencontre avec le Premier ministre Boris Johnson avant le sommet du G7 qui se déroulera en Cornouailles du 11 au 13.

Dimanche, Joe Biden rendra visite, au château de Windsor, à la reine Elizabeth II, qui règne depuis 69 ans, puis participera au sommet de l'Otan avant un autre sommet avec l'Union européenne.

Juste avant le décollage à bord de l'avion Air Force One, le président américain a assuré que le but de son voyage était de faire savoir "clairement à Poutine et à la Chine que les Etats-Unis et l'Europe (étaient) soudés". "Ce déplacement vise à concrétiser l'engagement renouvelé de l'Amérique envers ses alliés", écrit Joe Biden dans une tribune publiée par le Washington Post.

Mercredi soir, le président américain a marqué son intention de dire à son homologue russe "ce que je veux qu'il sache".
