Ontario reports fewest new COVID-19 cases since mid-September

Ontario reported 296 additional cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the fewest on a single day since last September, as well as the deaths of 13 more people with the illness. The weekly average of daily new cases in Hamilton (24) is the lowest its been since October. It's lower than Monday's 447 cases, Sunday's 530, Saturday's 502, Friday's 574, Thursday's 590, and Wednesday's 411.

In the Greater Toronto Area, officials reported 67 new cases in Toronto, 47 new cases in Peel Region, 27 new cases in York Region and 13 new cases in Durham Region.

Ontario has administered 11,529,430 vaccine doses (184,989 more than Monday), 2,037,751 fully vaccinated. It is the second straight day the province has set a daily vaccination record.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,103 cases, weekly rate of 6 cases per 100,000 people.

"Individuals who received a COVID-19 vaccine outside of Ontario or Canada are required to provide proof, such as a vaccination receipt or certificate, to their public health unit in order to be registered in the system", Hilkene said in a statement Wednesday.

The average of daily new admissions to ICUs has also decreased substantially, according to Critical Care Services Ontario, a government agency that compiles a daily report for hospitals and health organizations.

Timiskaming Health Unit: 208 cases, weekly rate of 3.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Northwestern Health Unit: 1,075 cases, weekly rate of 6.8 cases per 100,000 people. There are seven known active cases. The health unit has reported 3,328 cases.

The data from Northern Ontario health units is based on what was available at 10:30 a.m. today.
