  • UK records 9,284 new COVID-19 cases, amid rising trend

The six Manitobans who have died of COVID-19 include a man in his 30s, a man and woman in their 50s, and a man and a woman in their 60s from Winnipeg and a man in his 70s from the Southern health region.

The next highest is the Southern Health region, with 15.

The outbreak has been declared over at Health Sciences Centre unit WRS3 in Winnipeg.

Roussin also addressed where COVID-19 is now transmitting in Manitoba, noting workplaces in the province are the cause for many cases.

The test positivity in Manitoba has dropped to 8 per cent - the lowest it's been since April 24 - and 7.2 per cent in Winnipeg. Provincially, the rate remains at eight per cent, where it was on Sunday. There are now 250 Manitobans in hospital with COVID-19, including 74 total Manitoban patients in ICU. Of those, 58 are in Manitoba ICUs, while 14 are in Ontario and one is in Alberta. Last week, health officials said Missouri was experiencing a rise in the number of Delta variant cases, which was described as "highly transmissible".

The seven-day average daily case count is now 136.

Ontario continues to urge its citizens to get vaccinated as soon as they can and to book a second dose as soon as eligible. The Ministry of Health said there were 378 people in hospital with the novel coronavirus - 352 in intensive care.

As daily case numbers trend downward, the number of vaccinated people in Manitoba is climbing. Across the US, 53% of the population has had at least one dose, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

"We've met our target for our first stage of reopening plans now", Roussin said.

Asked if there will be any public health order changes this weekend, as the current orders are set to expire June 26, he said more information will released on Wednesday. Young people aged 12 to 17 must continue to receive Pfizer for both doses, as this is now the only vaccine approved for use in this age group.

The north-central and southwest part of the state are driving the surge, said Lisa Cox, spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

43,127,763 people had been given a first dose by the end of 20 June 2021.

Due to Pfizer supply issues from the federal government, appointments are not generally available for youth (aged 12-17) at this time, until more Pfizer doses become available.
